Finding Your Style

Finding your style is one life skill we all need as ladies. The shapes and sizes of the female body knows no bounds and that’s why each and every style we choose to wear needs to be unique and tailored to ourselves. Fear not though for I have compiled a list of 6 tips to help you decide what your own style is.

Tip number one. Find people who inspire you. I am drooling over a few travel Instagrammers whose style makes me envious like gypsylust, Haylsa and Lisahomsy. Every designer has a muse as does every fashion enthusiast, so you should to. To figure out who your main influencers are, start by going to everyones new fave social media channel, Pinterest. Search what style you love, create a board of all the images you are drawn to. Hey ho, there you have it, a board full of inspiration.

Do you have a wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear? Its time to have a major clear out. I use a simple rule, if I haven’t worn it in a year it’s time for it to gooooo!!! If it’s not the new you or the look you want to achieve, get rid. Out of site out of mind my lovelies.

Once you’ve got your inspiration sorted and your wardrobe cleaned out, it’s time to shop, but a little different now. It’s time to learn how to shop smarter. Pick out items you can mix and match. Keep to you’re desired style and own it. If you see something on an influencer that you love, but it may be designer or cost a million bucks, look for alternatives. High street fashion trickles down from the runways. Places like Topshop, Missguided, Urban Outfitters and Asos all take inspiration from the catwalks. So chances are that designer skirt you’re so in love with, theres going to be a replica for a fraction of the price.

That being said. When trying to define what your style is, take into consideration your lifestyle. Me for example, I’ve just relocated my life to the other side of the world and whilst backpacking limits what clothes I can take with me. Ask yourself these questions. Whats my budget? Whats my working life? What works for me? Play to what your strengths are.

Another thing to take into consideration when finding your style is what clothes actually suit your personal body shape. I’m 5ft3, super small and top heavy, low cut tops and anything I cant wear a bra with just isn’t going to work for me, I tend to go for more high waisted bottoms to give the effect of longer legs. Whatever your body shape, find what works for you. Otherwise your outfit will not be flattering, making your style look whack and off.

When you’ve got your killer wardrobe at the ready, its time to accessorise up. Pick key pieces and add in some statement pieces. What ever you do make sure you’ve got something for every occasion. The right accessory can take your outfit to the next level. I never go anywhere without my silver wear and my ankle bracelets have become a part of me.

Overall, have fun with finding your style and finding what works for you. Hell, I have been through so many different fads in my life, some I wish to never bring up again… Ever… Fashion trends change every season but your style should be yours. I’ll just be dreaming of my beachey goddessness for now.
